La European Space Agency (ESA, for its acronym in English) has selected the Valencian design and construction company, ITERCON, for its latest project for the construction and commissioning of the facilities at the European Space Astronomy Center (ESAC, for its acronym in English) ), of the ESA), its Madrid headquarters located in Villanueva de la Cañada.
The construction company will carry out the rehabilitation and expansion of building B of the complex, built in the 90s, with the aim of adapting it to the current needs of the intergovernmental organization and, in addition, increasing the capacity of its data processing center and rooms of scientific operations.
“ITERCON’s area of design and construction of data processing centers has experienced significant growth in recent years. Thanks to the trust placed in us by the major players in the sector, we have been able to create highly qualified teams in this field. Professionals with extensive experience in the sector that guarantee the success, in due time and form, of the projects”, commented the general director of ITERCON, Manuel Marín.
After the 15 months that the works are estimated to last, the new building will have more than 2.000 m 2 of modern and sustainable offices, with state-of-the-art scientific operating rooms, as well as additional capacity to house the servers of its data center. archiving and processing of data from ESA scientific missions.
Throughout the process, the construction company will create fifty direct jobs and more than 250 indirectly between suppliers and subcontractors.
